JUST IN: Barcelona have reached agreement with Manchester City for Bernardo Silva – fee less than €80m

According to Gerard Romero, there has been a recent development over Barcelona’s pursuit of Bernardo Silva, with the club apparently reaching an agreement with Manchester City over the Portuguese international.

It’s no secret that Xavi admires Silva for the creative output and tactical diversity he brings to the table. The coach of Barça believes he is a perfect midfield partner for Pedri in the interior position next season.

However, the acquisition has always eluded them since Silva is highly regarded in the Man City camp. However, it appears that Barça and the English giants, as well as the player’s agent Jorge Mendes, have struck an agreement about Silva’s prospective move to Camp Nou this summer.

According to Romero, the total cost of the transaction could be less than €80 million, which is far less than the stated value of €100 million earlier this summer.

However, considering their current financial situation, it is difficult to see Barcelona succeeding in the operation. The club has yet to register its new acquisitions and still needs to free up roughly €25 million in labour expenses.

That’s where Frenkie de Jong‘s sale could come in handy. According to recent sources, Manchester United is willing to pay a high cost for the Dutchman’s talents this summer, yet the destiny of the deal may rely on the player himself.
