JUST IN: £253,000-per-week legendary star set to leave FC Barcelona due to contract situation

Barcelona‘s legendary star and captain Sergio Busquets is set to leave, the club assumes. The 33-year-old turns 34 next week, and currently has less than 12 months to run on his current contract.

He is set to travel to the US, notably Inter Miami, where he might become the first of several former Barcelona greats to join the David Beckham-owned club, which has also been connected to Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, and Jordi Alba.

Messi may also leave PSG as a free agent in the summer of 2023 and reunite with his former teammate in Florida since he only has one year remaining on his deal.

Busquets reportedly had interest from numerous MLS teams this summer, but he has turned down all of them because he intends to honor his contract with Barca.

He’s likely to move to Inter Miami. But like Messi, Busquets aspires to represent Spain at the World Cup later this year, so for the time being, it would be best for him to remain in Europe where national team manager Luis Enrique can keep a closer eye on him.

Busquets’ decision has already been passed on to Barca, who have no plans to offer him a contract renewal. Already preparing for life without one of their best-ever center of the park maestros, Barca have recently brought in Franck Kessie to offer support to the veteran in his final season.
