Fabrizio Romano: Man United reach another agreement for ‘genius’ signing as Arnold goes into overdrive

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have reached yet another agreement for a genius signing as Barcelona also agreed on the fee. Romano took to Twitter on Thursday morning to provide a significant update on De Jong’s future.

He revealed that, ‘after further talks’, a ‘full agreement’ has been reached between the two clubs worth a total €85m (£71.9m), with a guaranteed fee around €75m (£63.5m).

However, the transfer expert added that personal terms are “still an issue” that must be settled before a move can take place. De Jong has been on United’s radar since Ten Hag was named manager at the end of April.

As a result, agreeing on a cost is a significant step forward in the Red Devils’ pursuit of the Dutchman, and personal terms should be finalized soon.

The 25-year-old is still owed £17m in deferred salary payments by Barcelona, so that could be an issue which means that the saga could still drag on over the coming days and possibly weeks despite a fee being agreed.
