DONE DEAL: Chelsea complete the signing of new £20m deal

Chelsea was close to announcing a new sponsorship deal yesterday night, according to reports.

It was an agreement that was worked out before the sanctions were imposed, which is why it can now be revealed. But Chelsea have officially announced the deal today via the website.

WhaleFin, a Crypto company, will be paying Chelsea £20m-a-season to become their shirt sleeve sponsors, replacing Hyundai. They are part of Amber Group, a global leader in digital asset products and infrastructure.

It is thought to be double the amount that Chelsea were getting from Hyunadai, according to Sky News, who report it as £20m-a-season.

It appears to be a fantastic agreement for Chelsea, and it might be a harbinger of things to come as the club seeks to increase revenue through top sponsorship deals. I don’t think we’ll hear about ‘crypto businesses’ in football again!
