Bruno Fernandes snubs N’Golo Kante when naming toughest midfielder in Premier League

Bruno Fernandes has named the toughest midfielder he has faced in the Premier League since joining Manchester United – snubbing Chelsea’s Champions League and World Cup winning star N’Golo Kante.

The Portugal international left Sporting Lisbon for Old Trafford back in 2020 – and has been one of the most influential players in the division since by scoring 35 goals and registering 25 assists across just 78 appearances.

With United announcing that Fernandes has agreed a new deal with the club, that makes him one of their highest paid players, fans had their chance to ask him about his time at the club so far on social media.

Taking part in a Twitter question and answer session, Fernandes named Kevin De Bruyne when asked who the toughest midfielder he has faced in the Premier League.

Fernandes has taken on the Belgium international on six occasions across all competitions, winning once, drawing twice and losing three times.

Across those fixtures, Fernandes has scored once with De Bruyne scoring twice, both those goals coming in their most recent meeting at the Etihad.

Against Kante, Fernandes as also played on six occasions across all competitions, winning once each with four draws.

Fernandes has not scored in any of those fixtures, with Kante grabbing a rare goal when France played Portugal back in 2020 in their Nations League meeting.

Fernandes was also asked who is the DJ in the United dressing room, laughing off a suggestion that it was Fred and revealing that it is either himself or Jadon Sancho.
