There have been lots of speculations in the transfer window recently and current Premier League champions Manchester City are reportedly open to selling Real Madrid target Raheem Sterling to Chelsea this summer.
As reported by ESPN, Raheem Sterling’s availability to be sold by Manchester City to Chelsea will have increased Chelsea’s chances of acquiring him during the summer transfer window. Real Madrid, among other clubs outside of England, are interested in signing the English forward.
Raheem Sterling seems to have played his last match for Manchester City, even though he has been one of the top scorers for the Citizens under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola.
But the 27-year-old has seen his stature reduce in the last couple of seasons. While he has featured regularly for Manchester City, Guardiola has not handed him starts in the most important games.
Sterling has scored 131 goals and 95 assists in 339 appearances thus far for Manchester City. But the Premier League champions will likely cash in on Sterling in the summer transfer window as he will enter the final year of his contract this week, and talks over a renewal have barely progressed. Such a situation has alerted Real Madrid and Chelsea.
Although there are growing doubts over Marco Asensio’s future, Real Madrid may have to consider signing Sterling despite their lack of real interest in him. Due to Carlo Ancelotti’s lack of quality wide-attacking options following the departure of the Spaniard, Sterling might be a target for Real Madrid.
