According to the latest report, Lisandro Martinez is Man United’s prime target to strengthen the central defense this summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have outbid Arsenal for Martinez but their offer is still not good enough to be accepted by Ajax and therefore, the Gunners are not out of the race as yet.
Furthermore, according to Romano, the South American center-half will inform Ajax of his desire to play in the Premier League.
We undoubtedly need a leader in the backline since our captain, Harry Maguire, was perhaps the league’s most unreliable central defender last year. It won’t be shocking if he gives up the captain’s hat the next year.
On the other hand, big-money signing, Raphael Varane, spent the majority of the time on the treatment table and was unable to impress when fit.
Lindelof has not proved to be good enough and Bailly is linked with a move to Fulham (Sky Sports). So a solid central defender must be signed and if we are chasing Martinez, then Ten Hag surely believes the £50million-rated star (The Telegraph) has the quality to strengthen the defense.
