According to Moi Llorens and finally confirmed by Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona midfielder Gavi has been offered a new contract by the club, and talks over a renewal are expected to gather up speed soon.
In 2021/22, the 17-year-old prodigy had a sensational breakthrough season with the Blaugrana, finishing the season as a key first-team member in Xavi Hernandez’s system.
Gavi appeared in 46 games for the Catalan giants, scoring two goals and assisting on six occasions. He has also established himself as a regular on the Spanish national team, where he has made a strong impression on international platforms.
Gavi’s future, on the other hand, has been pulled into question due to the fact that his current deal with Barcelona expires in 2023.
Despite protracted negotiations, an agreement is yet to be arrived at, and president Joan Laporta recently expressed his displeasure at the player’s agent for not going ahead with the extension.
Laporta’s outburst did not go down well with the midfielder’s camp, who have been waiting on a new formal proposal from Barcelona.
Gavi has now received an official contract offer from the club, as revealed by the two aforementioned media. After positive vibes in the recent meeting, Romano claims that negotiations will now reach the crucial stages as the two parties work to clinch the deal.
Liverpool are on high alert as a result of Gavi’s condition, and are willing to activate his €50 million release clause. The Spanish international, on the other hand, has always stated that he wants to stay at Barcelona.
