Breaking: Barcelona are ready to complete the signing of £385,000-per-week Star after emergency meeting chairman

Barcelona may have entered the race to sign Cristiano Ronaldo with the player’s agent understood to have met with the club’s president.

According to sources, Ronaldo has asked to leave Manchester United because he wants to play for a team that will be in the Champions League next season, casting serious doubt on Ronaldo’s future at the club.

However, Spanish outlet AS reports that Barcelona are interested in securing Ronaldo’s services. Jorge Mendes, who represents Ronaldo, also has the likes of Bernardo Silva and Ruben Neves on his books but the report says Ronaldo’s availability was discussed in his meeting with Barca president Joan Laporta.

Barcelona reportedly wanted to sign Ronaldo last summer, but their precarious financial circumstances prevented them from making a serious offer.

It might also be a ruse to put more pressure on Bayern Munich as they try to close a deal to sign Robert Lewandowski, who is thought to be Barcelona’s top priority for the front line.

After having their bid for Leeds star Raphinha hijacked by the LaLiga giants, Chelsea will undoubtedly hope this is the case.

We understand that the Red Devils are adamant that he won’t be leaving with one year left on his contract, however, his absence from training on Monday due to ‘family reasons’ has added fuel to the fire as his future becomes a huge topic of conversation.
